For this Before and After Thursday I wanted to share a little bit about using a flash. As I’ve said before, I’m blessed to have some sweet people in my life who call themselves “fans” and have asked me a few questions. One is about getting the sky in the background. the answer is pretty simple, I use a flash. The basic answer is, I use an off camera flash, and I expose my camera for the ambient light I want in the photo. In this case, the ambient light is the sky in the in the background. So I set my camera to capture that without a flash, then I make the appropriate adjustments to the settings on the flash.
For this shot I used a 14 inch soft box on a cheap light stand, a quantum trio flash, and a friend is holding the light about 13 feet in the air. He’s standing eight feet from my left and slightly in front of me.
So that’s it!
Thanks a lot for letting me share with you. I hope you express your heart in some way today.
God Bless You,
